Earlier this week, the California Geological Survey posted a report, Mineral Land Classification: Concrete Aggregate in the Greater Sacramento Area Production-Consumption Region.
This report is the first for concrete aggregate resources to cover all lands in the newly defined Greater Sacramento Area Production-Consumption (P-C) Region. The 8 county region includes Sacramento, Yolo, Yuba, Nevada, Sutter, Placer, El Dorado, and Solano. The report makes new mineral classifications for about 3,500 of the 6,000 acres in the area. The report finds the area is currently meeting its needs from sources within the region, is projected to meet 50-year demand, but, due to increasing urbanization, may encounter challenges to permit adequate sources beyond that.
